The cable is attached to the door and runs to an s hook that attaches to the track support.

It s not uncommon for these tracks to wind up out of alignment.
If you ve had your door for a while or are in and out of it a lot it can easily end up out of alignment.
You should be able to see about 1 2 to 3 4 of the shaft.
You will notice that there is one garage door track on each side of the doorway.
Maybe someone bumped into it recently.

With the door propped open take the s hook out of the support and tighten or loosen the cable as needed.
Check that it is straight.

Adjust the brackets on both sides of the door until you have a consistent garage door track margins.
Changed them to be the same and now the cables are equal and the track isn t hitting the door.
